Love cabbage rolls but don't have the time to make them? Try this simple weeknight soup that packs in all the flavours of this classic Eastern European dish.



  1. In a large saucepan, cook beef, garlic and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. 
  2. Stir in salt, mustard powder and cabbage. Cook one minute. 
  3. Stir in broth, tomatoes, bay leaf and rice; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; to maintain a simmer; cook covered until rice is tender, about 15 minutes. 

Recipe Tips

Garnish with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of dill.
